Guys, I’ve been a terrible blogger. It’s been six weeks since my last post (and two weeks since I started this post before leaving it in my drafts).
The funny thing is, I have three or four mostly-written posts languishing in my drafts that are actually about exciting things. I’ve been doing my usual rounds of London’s restaurant scene (no change there), but I’ve also been trying out Classpass (full review coming very very soon), been on a dreamy holiday to Majorca, and, most importantly, got myself (and started) a brand new job. It’s been a busy old couple of months, that is for sure, and I guess life has been in the way of this blog.
I’ve also been enjoying some smaller pleasures around the big things. Mostly:
Reading – like a demon. Since I had the long-overdue realisation that I can actually read on my tablet super easily on the DLR/tube, I’ve been making my way through books like I haven’t done since I was 8 years old. I’ve reread an old favourite, The Basic Eight, and discovered new favourites like Astonish Me by Maggie Shipstead, which made me wish I’d never given up ballet.
Exploring – there is no place like Greenwich in the sun. I have to run later now if I want to catch the sunset, but between Canary Wharf, the City, and the Royal Naval College, those orangey pink June views are well worth it. Daytimes aren’t too shabby either, although I’m fast coming to terms with the reality of living in a place so nice that throngs of tourists fill the streets on a regular basis. Queueing to get onto the escalator at Cutty Sark is not cool.
Buying holiday clothes – like nobody’s business. Having a fulltime job and the salary that goes with it (not that that is very big, mind you) is still a bit of a novelty and I’ve had a very hard time not buying everything in Pull and Bear/H&M/any other high street shop my budget can justify. That said, finding a cheapish bikini that I liked proved fiendishly difficult.
Celebrating – I’m not the only person I know who recently bagged a new job, and between that, a certain bff of mine finishing her 4th year of med school and a slew of other good news, there’s been a lot of celebrating to be done. This has taken various forms but a good old fashioned, prosecco-fuelled dinner at Kate’s reminded me how perfect Friday nights are for catching up with all my faves.
I’m determined to get back on track with the old blog, and as promised there will be some more exciting posts coming soon. How are you all, anyway?!
